Difrules in EUniversalis game?

Posted in Strategy game

Can anyone tell me what this “code” actually does?

You play with GOD mode. Which allows you to win battles easier. I think thats it.

Dan Cook 16-05 20:28
I see…never works for me, though. :(
driedcow 16-05 20:29
Huh, what is a difrules? Is it edible?

Gen. Suvorov 16-05 21:14
Its a cheat code. I also noticed that many events don’t work. Once I tried to see what all those events do and went one by one, half of them didn’t work. Why is that?

driedcow 16-05 21:27
they were moved up to higher slots. Try event 58 and 59 to get explorers and conquistadors.

Can’t figure out the impact of “difrules”, either.

But I know some of the cheats, that don’t seem to work, will work under certain conditions. Some are fairly obvious, but I still haven’t figured out many others. I have, however, made the following observations on some of the events that often seem to not work:

Event 7 - Religious conversion will only work on a home province. If the home provinces are already of the same religion, nothing happens.

Event 20 and 21 - I have actually gotten the Bank and Stock Exchange to work, but can’t consistently repeat it. They just allow you to borrow more money, anyway. It seems to work latter in the game, once your economy and income levels are well developed.

Event 29 - Rutters will only be stolen from MAJOR powers; there also seems to be an increased likelihood that the rutters will be from your closest neighbors; distant or unconnected majors never seem to respond to this event, but sea connections appear to be considered.

(Paradox did admit, by the way, that removing the MAJOR status will affect certain events, but I never saw these spelled out.)

Event 37 - the inheritance appears to require a royal marriage, a larger size, and good relations (much like vassalization, but not quite so high relations). Vassals will never be inherited. If several candidates meet the mysterious criteria, the smallest one becomes your inheritance. I’m not sure if there is a programmed predisposition (England-Hannover, Austria-Hungary, etc.) or whether these just happen to meet the criteria, but these seem to occur more easily.

Event 38 - The agricultural revolution only seems to work on some home provinces. Generally, poorer ones (base 2 or 3) seem to be left out (I’ve seen some inexplicable exceptions though);

Event 53 - Can work, but rarely. I suspect that there are some very specific criteria that must be in place for a new CoT to pop up. Once these are in place, there seems to be a good chance for the Event to occur on it’s own. But if the (as yet unknown) conditions are in place, the event will trigger.

Events I’ve never gotten to work: Event 22, Event 23, Event 51

The useful Richelieu command, by the way, tends to cause crashes.

It’s kind of a shame these are spelled out better, somewhere. Customizing a desired start position would be much easier if the “cheats” were more robust, or if the existing cheats were clearer. The feature I’d really like is the ability to switch from one nation to another, more easily. But, we can’t have everything.

codes, codes, codes. cheats, cheats, cheats jada jada jada
Personally I never cheat in computer games, not in EU, not in civ, not even in Doom (I know, not even in Doom, that’s how pathetic i am with this no-cheating-principle)

Btw, Difrules=GOD-mode is that right? The name “difrules” must be coming from “DIF rules” which means that the swedish hockey-team the GOD-like DIF is the best (which it is). And that means that there must be at least one DIF-lover in the Paradox-team. No wonder the crazy taxi game is such a success.

GO DIF!:D

Gen. Suvorov 16-05 22:05
What about events 55 - Fortification and event 52 - Industrial Revolution. They never work.

driedcow 16-05 22:15
The fortification works. It is event 57 tho, I think.

Cheat codes are good to edit the game and find out how it works.

If he’s trying to set up a custom scenario, he has a legit. reason for using them :D

Just to let you all know what it stands for…

difrules = DIF Rules = Djurgardens IF Rules

Djurgardens IF = A football (soccer) and hockey club in Stockholm.

Some of the people that has been working on EU are huge Djurgardens IF fans. Not me btw.

Go Devils!!!

Van Barel 17-05 11:10
Thanks Patric, now it should be time to explain what
God mode does…

Can I win the Champions League just by entering god mode?:D

Helios 17-05 11:17
No, because lousy DIF (football) has not yet even scored a goal at home this season. So they’re pretty far from Champions league. There is a probability for relegation though, so the code should be used with care.;)

Moonwalker 17-05 22:01
I knew it!

DIF rules!!:)

That would be me :)
I try to go to all games at Stadion..

Forrad 18-05 12:05
There is one effect of the code ‘difrules’.

If you colonise a province, the difrules codes lets you jump 2 colony levels at a time which is fairly handy.

Gen. Suvorov 18-05 19:54
Yes, but otherwise its useless.

tonhur 18-05 20:16
Also if u have army of bit less than 2000 it never suffers attrition and can’t be beaten as it never suffers loses.

Also I dont know if this is a feature of difrules but I noticed that I was able to place huge armies to besiege french provinces, much larger than they say they can support, with 0 attrition. Havent fought many wars against france before so I dont know.

anyone know any other effects?

BTW, does anyone know the updated cheat list? Some events are moved and some do not work at all. I have english version. I havent found one yet.
