Ok, i posted this in FAQ, but no one answered, so hopefully someone will on here. I was playing Prussia where i controlled most of modern Germany plus Bohemia. I was allied with Saxony, Hannover, Denmark, and Haseanistic League, with Saxony and Hannover vassalized and all +200. I got Lorraine for Hannover in a war with France, and after a few years Lorraine declared its independance from Hannover and declared war. I was the only one that honored the alliance. I got pop-up messages that said “so and so country dared to dishonor…you now have a CB on them”, but in my diplomatic window i do not have a CB, so i thought maybe i really did, but it didnt say, and when i declared war i lost 3 stab. why did i not get a CB, why can they dishonor my alliance without reprucussions? Another ridiculous Newbie question I am afraid. I am playing my first game as England, and all of a sudden cannot allocate funds for research.
The ‘Tresaury’ bar is greyed out and all my funds have to go straight to the Treasury. Can someone please tell me why this is and how I can change it please? I want to develop my navy more quickly!

It is possible that you locked the slider bar on your tresury by double clicking on it. Just double click again to unluck slider. You can do this to all of your slders if you care to in the future (locking them). Read more

Can anyone tell me what this “code” actually does?
Gen. Suvorov 16-05 20:26
You play with GOD mode. Which allows you to win battles easier. I think thats it.
Dan Cook 16-05 20:28
I see…never works for me, though.
driedcow 16-05 20:29
Huh, what is a difrules? Is it edible?
Gen. Suvorov 16-05 21:14
Its a cheat code. I also noticed that many events don’t work. Once I tried to see what all those events do and went one by one, half of them didn’t work. Why is that? Read more

I have played Poland twice now. Once as France I inherited it. The other time I started out as Poland. Both times the population revolted from day one and I had all of my tolerances at the max. Also diplomatically Poland was pretty much hated by all other countries from the beginning. How in the hell do you play Poland?
This is what happened in the game where I started as Poland. After 20-30 years of revolution (starting on the first day of the game!) I lost Ukraine which was a relief because at least I didn’t have to keep taking those two or three provinces back. There was a revolution and my religion was involuntarily changed to protestant. I thought that it would calm down after that but it did not. First I was attacked by a coalition of Austria, Bavaria, and Venice. I managed to get them to agree to a white peace and then had another revolution which changed my religion back to catholic involuntarily. I was then attacked by Hansa, Brandenburg, Sweden, and Prussia. At this point I am wondering WHAT THE FUCK????? Read more

Hello all. I was just about to start a new GC (or IGC - I haven’t decided yet) with Venice. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to play them? They seem to be an interesting nation to play, because they can go in so many directions: trade, diplomacy, war, colonization.

I played Venice a couple of times, it’s one of the most interesting minors because there is a lot to do. Be prepared for war every 5 years or more with the Turks if you ally with Hungary. Long term I recommend Austria, and Modena/Parma or Tuscany as allies.
Venice gets an advantage with all default Generals getting a siege bonus. You also get one of the best Generals in the game in Bragadin, DOW as soon as he arrives, and attack someone, anyone at all times until he dies.
Avoid battle with the Turks try to outmaneuver them, cut them off and siege multiple provinces. You get a lot of good admirals, so using the fleet for renaisance Anzios should help starve the heathen. When Hungary disapears (without Austria and Venice as allies that should be pretty quick) Venice and Austria can expand nicely into the Turkish lands. Read more

I like to play with random/historical events on. For me it adds a little bit of instability to the game. However ever notice tht bad events always happen at inconvenient times?? For example. I’m playing as P-L and for 20 years I’ve been planning an assault on Russia. Slowly building troops, building fortifications, taking my time. For those 20 years, everything is peaceful. My Moslem acquistions from previous wars are behaving themselves. Then after all preparations are complete I give the goahead…Invasion to commence July 1. 1580.
Within days I get a “Peasants are Unhappy, Revolt Risk higher in all nationalist provinces” event. Added to the natural revolts because of a two point stability penalty for declaring war with no CB, all of a sudden almost everybody is revolting and my invasion of Russia doesn’t quite go off like I planned it.
And this has happened before. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Read more

I am going to buy this game, but I want your opinion. Is it any good?
I think it is, but I haven?t played it. i love war strategy games. I loved Shogun. And the online gaming, how does it work? Is it the map thing too? Are you supposed to take over wurope in the online game too?
Cuz in Shogun you could only participate in the war scenes online. Read more

I’m playing Russia in the GC. The year is 1530 and I’ve conquered about a third or a fourth of Europe. My BB rating is probably very high, and now about 15 countries have declared war on me. I’ve been trying to get peace for years now, but those pesky AIs keep declaring war on me all the time. Looks like my BB rating is just too high. What should I do?
In case I’ve screwed up, any tips on how I can expand fast with Russia without getting such a high BB rating? At least I want to annex a few coastal provinces (from the teutons early on), Kazan, The Golden Horde, Astrachan and Sibir.
Help appreciated.
regards, Thorstein Korsvold

Russia
Your best bet is to gobble the Khanates a bit at a time. Instead of going for the big grab of annexation right away, take all the provinces but settle for two in the peace. You’ll look like a nice guy. Repeat until annexation means taking only one or two provinces. Read more

…when i read story after story, ancedote after ancedote where some minor power takes over the world. I just can’t buy it — not that i don’t understand the principles or strategies involved (use attrition against enemy, attack capitals to get provinces, avoid direct conflicts, cut off supplies, use allies to soak up armies, ect…), but that in my experience it just doesn’t pan out.
Like say, the Teutonic Knights. Here i thought this is a great minor to play — close to 4 capitals, good leaders, decent allies. However if you attack early you get tons of BB, which leads Sweden, Denmark, Russia and P-L to gang bang you together, so i decided to forge a ‘Northern League’ with Pomm, Haseanic, Brandenburg, ect… instead of attacking immediately. This keeps me alive for a while, if not unfortunately before all my leaders die out. When Prussia turns Protestant i invade and take them; when P-L gets involved in some big war i use the ‘Northern League’ alliance to attack and capture Danzig, i nice fat prize. Then it all collapses. Russia and P-L invade me with LEADERS, not generic armies, against which im helpless irregardless of my armies’ size. I lose Eastern Prussia to P-L and spend the better part of a decade fighting Russia and Pskow, (all i can do to concentrate knashing my teeth in disgust!!), which wrecks my economy, though not losing any provences. My inflation is at 35%, then around 1570, P-L invades again with Stephan Bathory (more or less his name); a leader whom defeated my armies, oh, around 8 or so times, and whom i never bested. He was invincible irragardless of how badly outnumbered; a.k.a 4 thousand of his, beating 20 thousand of mine. My morale drops like a ball against his armies; he beseiges and assaults lvl3 forts in 4 months; the same fort held out at -4 for a year against my 25k army without dropping one level. It takes me 2 years to capture P-Ls capital and Lithuania; it takes him less than 9 months to capture 2 lvl3 provinces and 1 lvl2. Meanwhile if im ever caught by a ‘named’ P-L army its just assumed i automatically lose; because i do. Read more

Is somebody knows something about what is doing Paradox ??? I’ve tryed a lot of time to call Paradox developpers about next patchs but without any success… The game crashes currently with a high speed (1 minute = 1 year), and there are still a lot of bugs.
I’ve already send a post in this thread… My initial idea was to know if somebody in this forum knew somebody of the Paradox team, because since 15 may there is none report from it… And like another thread said it : maybe the forum is already dying ? I don’t hope this but my calls are from a few weeks are without any anwser. Midsummer (Midsommar in swedish) is to celebrate the longest day in the year(longets time beetween dusk and dwan), and is one of the biggest Swedish holidays. It should not be interpeted that we think that it is in the middle of the summer. Read more
